TOURISM AMBASSADOR PROGRAMME

Tourism Ambassador Programme is a learnership programme designed and funded by the National Department of Tourism and implemented through the EPWP (Expanded Public Works Programme) principles to provide our unemployed youth from disadvantaged communities with a work environment that will help the beneficiaries gain valuable experience in the theoretical (classroom) and practical (experiential) skills required in the tourism and hospitality industry.

The programme was rolled-out in the North West Province with two Municipalities, namely Moses Kotane Local Municipality and the Tlokwe Municipality with a total of 50 beneficiaries over a period of 12 months. The beneficiaries underwent 30% theoretical and 70% practical training in the skills programmes at local host employers.

Tlokwe City Council wishes to sincerely thank the following Potchefstroom Host Employers for granting the learners the opportunity to do practical training at their establishments:

Bonang Guest House, Elgro Hotel, Lotlametswe Guest House, Phinah’s Guest House, Road Lodge, Willows Garden Hotel

Following Skills Programmes were offered:

1: Assistant Housekeeper. 2: Table Attendant. 3: Assistant Chef. 4: Introduction to Customer Care Services.

The exit strategy for the Tourism Ambassador Programme is to have all our beneficiaries who enrolled into the programme being employable or employed by the time of completion of the programme and our tourism product owners are welcome and encouraged to invite them for interviews whenever a vacancy should arise.
